The 8020-SCP-423, a Model 400 processor manufactured by Square D, features 8K RAM and floating-point capabilities. It operates with a scan speed of 0.7 milliseconds per K of Boolean logic and 2.9 milliseconds per K of nominal logic. For external I/O, it supports over 4,000 digital points and 3,000+ analog points, which can be mixed in configurations of 4, 8, 16, or 32 digital points per module, or 4, 8, or 16 analog points per module. User memory utilization is 1 word per contact, with an 8-word memory overhead.

Quick Specifications for the 8020-SCP-423:

  • Scan speed: 0.7 ms/K (Boolean logic) / 2.9 ms/K (nominal logic)
  • External I/O capacity: 4,000+ digital points or 3,000+ analog points
  • Memory overhead: 8 words

8K RAM with floating-point functionality

The processor is equipped with a key-switch offering four modes: RUN/PROGRAM, RUN, HALT, and DISABLE OUTPUTS. In RUN/PROGRAM mode, the processor executes the ladder program while allowing users to modify it. In RUN mode, program execution continues, but no changes can be made. The HALT mode stops ladder program execution and turns off all outputs. In DISABLE OUTPUTS mode, the ladder program runs, but all outputs remain off.

Weighing 4.2 pounds, the processor has dimensions of 1.5 inches (width) x 12.8 inches (height) x 7.1 inches (depth) without the key; with the key, the depth increases to 8.1 inches. It also includes two RS-422 communication ports: COMM 1 is used for connecting programming and peripheral equipment, while COMM 2 supports inter-processor communications, printers, ASCII devices, D-Log modules, and more. A battery access door on the processor provides manual access to the battery.
